Pistachio halva is an aromatic Middle Eastern sweet made from sesame seeds, and flavoured with halawa root. The large pieces of pistachio nut in this pistachio halva bring a contrast in texture, colour and enhance the flavour. Small squares of pistachio halva are often served after dinner, with the sweet, floral flavours balanced by a small strong black coffee. Also try serving halva as a small, fragrant dessert – dressed with a drizzle of honey or fruit compote and extra slivers of green pistachio.
