With just a few basic ingredients and straightforward steps, these muffins are a breeze to make. If you’ve never made muffins before, you’ll be very proud of yourself; and if you’re an experienced muffin man, you won’t be disappointed!

Basic French Toast
Who doesn’t love waking up to the sweet, comforting aroma of French Toast sizzling on the stove? This recipe is perfect for home cooks looking for a simple, yet satisfying breakfast. What sets this recipe apart is the use of slightly stale bread, ensuring it soaks up just the right amount of eggy goodness. Pair your French Toast with fresh fruit, a side of bacon, or a cup of steaming coffee for a complete morning treat.

Beans, Potato and Pesto Pasta
Pasta with pesto, potatoes, and green beans is a simple dish from the Ligurian coast of Italy. Resourceful Italian cooks often stretched their pantry by pairing vegetables with pasta, creating seasonal meals that were economical but so delicious. Here, humble ingredients— potatoes, basil and green beans—are turned into a hearty but fresh pasta. It’s my go-to for a vegetarian dinner, perfect for busy weeknights and even quicker if you’ve prepared the pesto in advance!

Beef and Broccoli
Beef and broccoli is an excellent pairing for a quick, healthy dinner—packed with iron, protein and a big boost of vitamin C. The beef velveting technique, inspired by traditional Chinese methods, ensures melt-in-your-mouth tenderness.
Here we’ve used Chinese broccoli and broccolini, though a whole head of regular broccoli would work just as well. Cut the florets into long thin pieces, leaving the stems intact.
It’s a simple and quick dinner that comes together in just 30 minutes. Serve with steamed rice, a sprinkling of sesame seeds and go to bed knowing you’ve nourished your body well.

Beef and Lentil Shepherd’s Pie with Scalloped Potatoes
This is our version of a classic Shepherd’s Pie, but with a bit of a Clove twist. The base is our popular Less-Meat Bolognese – made with less meat but loads of mushrooms and added lentils. The pie is topped with crunchy golden potato slices, making it feel a bit more special occasion than a traditional layer of mash. If you’re feeling old-school though, use this base and make a yummy parmesan mash instead!

Beef and Rice Bowl
There’s a reason beef and rice bowls are popular all around the world. They’re quick, convenient, and budget-friendly, while also being full of flavour and providing a good mix of proteins, carbohydrates, and vegetables. If you’re new to cooking or are looking for simple dinners you won’t get tired of, then try Clove’s simple and adaptable version.
The vegetables are interchangeable and the sauce can be adapted to what you have in the pantry. We’ve topped this bowl with a fried egg for added protein, but you could also add some sliced avocado and kimchi.
This recipe serves four, but if you’re feeding one or two, you could make it on the weekend for easy, nutritious meals throughout the week.

Beef Chow Mein 🍜
The prefect beef chow mein recipe! A Chinese staple that is a crowd pleaser every single time.

Beef Stew
This simple beef stew is a nod to a Hungarian Goulash. Its deep, earthy red colour comes from a perfect combination of paprika, tomato paste, and slow-cooked capsicum. It’s savoury and hearty, with tender melt-in-your-mouth beef and velvety carrots. Eating this dish feels like wrapping yourself in cashmere.
Traditionally, goulash is served in bowls with crusty bread on the side, making it more like a soup than a casserole paired with mash. In this recipe, we top it off with lots of fresh dill and dollops of sour cream.
Its flavour is even better the next day, so add this recipe to your Sunday cooking list and nourish your soul later in the week.

Big Italian Meatballs
Who doesn’t love a meatball? This is the dinner to make when you want to show someone how much you love them or when you know you need some self-care. Hearty, saucy, old-school nourishment that feels like it’s doing your soul good.
There are two tricks to making the best meatballs in town: to keep the meatballs fluffy and light, don’t over-mix when combining the ingredients, and to stop your meatballs from falling apart when frying, make sure you refrigerate them for at least 30 minutes beforehand. You could make them the day before if it’s easier.
These meatballs are bigger than usual, and rather than serve them with pasta, we suggest serving them with crusty bread, or a side of polenta or mash.

Bircher Muesli
Bircher Muesli is a quick and healthy breakfast option. It’s nutritious, cheap, and most of the prep is done the night before. Bircher is a great way to fill kids up before school or for the train on the way to work. Check out our Overnight Oats for a different variation.

Bitter Lime Marmalade
After many happy years of marmalade-making, this is a firm favourite. A beautiful marmalade with thin strips of rind and ginger in a pretty, clear gel, it’s incredibly juicy and full of flavour, but has a nice bitter edge that stops it from being too sweet. You can also make this with grapefruit, lemons, oranges or a mixture of citrus fruit. Try adding other flavours too, like juniper with grapefruit, or cloves with oranges.

Bittersweet Tabouleh with Radicchio & Pomegranate
An autumn adaptation of the classic Middle Eastern dish, using buckwheat for a gluten-free tabouleh. The bitterness of the radicchio balances the acidity of the tomatoes and the sweetness of the pomegranate syrup.

Blackberry Jam
This jam is so good that we have to hide the jar at the back of the fridge so it doesn’t get demolished in one sitting.
The two top tips are to macerate the berries and sugar together overnight and to make sure you don’t cook the jam for too long – it sets surprisingly quickly.
If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on some home-grown blackberries, make this jam! Or you could try making it with mulberries; just make sure you hull them before you start.

Blood Orange Apple Crumble
A crumble is such a great winter dessert because it is both easy to make and quick to prepare. You can prep a crumble for baking earlier in the day (or even the day before) and then just pop it in the oven while eating dinner to have for dessert. Equal parts comforting and delicious, a crumble is also the perfect vehicle for thick cream or ice cream.
For this recipe the apples are cooked in the juice of a few blood oranges turning them a gorgeous shade of pink. A little sugar and cardamom is then added before it is all tipped into a dish and topped with fresh blood orange segments. A simple crumble topping with flour, butter, oats, sugar and blood orange zest is then sprinkled on top before baking.
This is a simple and easy recipe that showcases the beauty of the bejewelled blood orange.

Bolognese Sauce
This recipe for Bolognese sauce is a family favorite and is great for making ahead and freezing for a quick and easy dinner. The dish is made by cooking a mixture of olive oil, finely chopped onion, crushed garlic, grated carrot, and sliced celery in a saucepan until the onion has softened. Then, pork and veal mince (or beef) is added and browned before tomato passata, water, and milk are mixed in. The sauce is brought to a boil and simmered, covered, for 30-45 minutes and then uncovered for an additional 10-15 minutes to thicken.

Breakfast Burrito: Potato, Egg, and Avocado
Make breakfast burritos when you have leftover boiled or roasted potatoes. By reheating cooked potatoes, they have more resistant starches, which is very good for the bacteria in your gut!
This breakfast burrito is on the greener side, with plenty of avocado, coriander, and green hot sauce. But make it your own by adding cheese, rice, beans, or handfuls of baby spinach.

Breakfast Egg Muffins
Little egg muffin, mini frittata – whatever you call them, they make the perfect teeny snack. Think breakfast on the go, kids’ lunchboxes, and snacks for work. They’re adaptable, so add in the things you love or the things that need using in the fridge.
All cheeses work, herbs add freshness, and you can add some chopped vegetables, even cooked leftover potatoes, pumpkin, or grilled capsicums. Add a little chopped ham, bacon, or cooked sliced sausage.
They are quick to make and last for about 3 days in the fridge. You can eat them cold or reheat them in the oven or sandwich press (just don’t squash them!).

Breakfast Rice Porridge
This breakfast favourite is an excellent way to use up 1 cup of leftover rice. It’s simple, delicious, and a comforting way to start the day.
Use brown or white rice, milk of your choice, whatever dried fruits are in the pantry, and a little grated pear or apple (especially good to use up all the half-eaten fruit in the fridge).
Add toasted nuts or seeds or a little toasted coconut on top.

Bright Green Garlicky Kale
This is one of the best ways to eat kale. The high heat of a sauté softens the kale while still maintaining the structure of the leaves. This can be a very quick and simple side, or stir it through pasta with lots of olive oil, parmesan, and lemon juice. Serve it on top of a rice bowl, as a side with grilled fish, or use it as a filling for an omelette with a little goat’s cheese.

Brioche French Toast with Brûléed Bananas
This is french toast on steroids. A delicious dish that’s surprisingly simple and wickedly sweet. I do use a blow torch for this recipe but if you don’t have one, no stress! You can just pop your banana under a grill.

10 Minute Fish Tacos 🐟 🌮
The perfect mid-week healthy meal that’s ready in just 10 minutes. Can’t go wrong.

A Batch of Sautéed Silverbeet
When silverbeet is going wild in the garden or crazy cheap at the market, we buy a few bunches and make a big batch of this delicious sautéed silverbeet. It’s lemony, spiced, and full of herbs.
It stores well in the fridge and can be used throughout the week as the base of different meals. Add some feta and turn it into a pie, serve it with grilled meats, or make an omelette or frittata. It’s also delicious on toast with avocado and toasted nuts.

Adaptable Fruit Crumble
If there are pears or apples in the fruit bowl, flour in the pantry and butter in the fridge, then apple crumble is on the menu. It really is the best dessert – simple, wholesome and satisfying.
This crumble topping is nicely adaptable, we’ve used almonds here, but switch them with rolled oats, coconut flakes or leave them out altogether! Crumbles are a real crowd pleaser, so make it your signature move. Cook it for the kids, serve it at a dinner party or whip one up for afternoon tea.

Almond Crescent Moon Biscuits
My mother’s Almond Moon Biscuits use a recipe that has been handed around from sister to sister-in-law for a few generations now. The ‘recipe’ has always simply been a list of ingredients that seems to be measured largely in espresso coffee cup portions. The technique was never written down and something you just kept in your memory, using the feel of the dough as a guide for how the recipe is going.
My mother always seems to have a stash of them in her freezer and a separate stash in the fridge, in case visitors “drop-in”. It’s something I love about that generation, so the last time I travelled back home, I made them with my mother so I could write proper quantities and instructions and share them with you all.
They have a heady orange fragrance and the satisfying crunch of freshly roasted nuts. They are also enjoyed best, in my opinion, with a fresh espresso in hand.
This recipe makes 50 biscuits.

Apple & Pecan Maple Muffins
I always say muffins should have substance – after all, they are muffins endnote cake! Dense with apple, sweet with spice, topped with pecans and glazed with maple syrup, these muffins are a favourite of mine.

Apple, Rhubarb & Blackberry Crumble
There’s nothing better in winter than a soul-warming pudding for dessert. This delicious crumble brings together fresh apples and rhubarb with frozen blackberries – a memorable combination and a dessert you’ll make often. The leftovers are pretty good for breakfast topped with natural yoghurt, too.

Avocado Toast with Green Apple & Pickled Ginger
If you’re looking to shake up your usual breakfast routine, this Avocado Toast with Green Apple and Pickled Ginger will make you want to do a happy dance for how delicious it is.
This recipe pairs beautifully with soft-boiled eggs for breakfast. However, if you want to spice things up with the slaw, try subbing the olive oil and lemon for sesame oil and rice wine vinegar, and serve with grilled chicken, fish or tofu and a side of rice for a flavourful and easy lunch or dinner.

Baby Carrot, Pumpkin and Chickpeas
A beautiful big tray of roasted vegetables can often be the hero of the meal. This orange beauty brings colour and flavour to the table – sweet roasted pumpkin and baby carrots, spicy chickpeas and a tangy herby yoghurt dressing. Serve it with a roast, take it to a BBQ, or grill some halloumi.

Bacon Breakfast Burrito
You’ll love how quick and easy this is. It’s a tasty way to kick off a busy morning—crispy bacon, fluffy scrambled eggs, and baked beans all wrapped up in a golden tortilla. The baked beans give it a hearty twist, and it’s perfect with a hot cup of coffee. This burrito’s got the flavor and fuel to keep you going all day.

Baked Barramundi
If you haven’t baked fish or rice before, you don’t know what you’re missing! This impressive one-tray barramundi and coconut rice is surprisingly simple to make. The fish is lightly spiced, the rice is creamy, and the salsa is zesty and bright, making a perfectly balanced flavour sensation. Because everything cooks together in one tray in the oven, it feels really fuss-free. No pots, no frying, no massive clean-up.
And if we haven’t convinced you yet, nutritionally speaking, this meal makes a nicely balanced plate. Lean protein, omega 3’s, rice cooked in a healthy fat, plus a boost of vitamin C from the limes. We’ve used barramundi fillets in this version, but you can use any firm white fish that takes your fancy. And if the pineapple salsa isn’t your thing, try this with a simple cucumber salad or a spicy tomato salsa.

Baked Beans
One of my favourite comfort meals – boujee baked beans. Serve these tasty beans over a slice of toast, a jacket potato or with a piece of grilled chicken.

Baked Dukkah Salmon
This sheet pan meal recipe is the epitome of a quick midweek dinner. It is all cooked on one sheet pan (yay for less washing up) and the addition of dukkah is what elevates it to tasting far more fancy than you would anticipate ever eating at home on a weeknight.
The dukkah crusted salmon is sitting on a little raft of purple and white sweet potato which cooks first and then when you add the salmon you also throw asparagus and lemon on the pan to bake – it couldn’t be easier.
This 5 ingredient baked dukkah salmon is the perfect dish when you’ve had a big day and don’t really feel like cooking – it is part of why it has made it into our regular repertoire of weeknight dishes.

Baked Eggs
Breakfast for dinner is often the answer to having nutritious, home-cooked meals in a flash, and this dish is a great way to use up leftovers that you might have in the fridge or freezer. Here we use a simple base of sautéed greens, but see below for other ways you can transform your leftovers into dinner.

Baked Fish with Ginger and Soy
Featuring tender fish fillets and vibrant greens, this dish is as nutritious as it is delicious. The magic lies in the sauce – a mix of savoury soy sauce, tangy ginger brine, and the bright zest and juice from the lime. Sliced garlic adds a subtle kick, while a touch of chilli sauce brings a customizable heat. Sesame oil infuses a rich, nutty aroma that ties everything together beautifully.
Whether you’re whipping up a quick weeknight meal or hosting a casual dinner, this fish bake is sure to shine. It’s visually appealing, packed with flavor, and incredibly easy to prepare.

Baked Ricotta Italian Cheesecake
This Baked Ricotta Italian Cheesecake is a delightful dessert reminiscent of the famous Papa’s cake. It combines the creaminess of fresh ricotta and cream cheese, flavored with vanilla, encased in a buttery pastry crust. Perfect for any occasion, this cake is baked until golden and then cooled gradually in the oven before being refrigerated overnight, allowing the flavors to fully develop.

Baked Salmon with Garlic, Thyme & Zucchini Salad
Enjoy the simplicity and freshness of baked salmon paired with a light zucchini ribbon salad. This dish combines tender, herb-infused salmon with crisp zucchini, toasted pine nuts, and a squeeze of lemon for a vibrant, healthy, and flavourful meal.

Banana & Strawberry Popsicles
These are fun and easy to whip up as a treat on a summer’s day – or any day! Feel free to add in any other chopped fruit or berries you have in the fridge. Overripe bananas work wonderfully here too, helping to avoid food waste while adding natural sweetness. Plus, it’s a fun and healthy treat that children can make themselves. Have a popsicle mould ready!

Banana Bread with Dates & Pecan Crumble
Bored of regular banana bread? Try this more exciting variation with dates and a delicious pecan crumble.
It’s still simple and easy and doesn’t use any oil or butter, just ripe bananas to provide moisture. All you need to make it is two bowls and a spoon.
While this recipe will work without the dates, they’re a lovely touch for natural sweetness. If you don’t have them or don’t like them, try a nut of your choice or some roughly chopped chocolate.

Banana Choc Chip Muffins
Looking for delicious and easy-to-make muffins? The search party is over. Every time we make these muffins, we get asked for the recipe.

Bananas, dark chocolate chips, oats, and brown sugar make these muffins a great breakfast option, lunchbox snack, or nighttime treat. What’s great about this recipe is its simplicity.

Beetroot and Barley Risotto
Barley has a nuttiness that perfectly complements the earthiness of beetroot. Together, they create something rich and wholesome. Barley isn’t as high maintenance as arborio rice, so you can walk away between absorption stages.
This is an earthy, wholesome dish that makes you feel good.

Beetroot Curry with Coconut Sambal
Sri Lankan Beetroot Curry is usually served with a zesty coconut sambal, rice and dahl. Cumin rice pairs beautifully with this curry, so definitely make it, if you haven’t tried it before.
The crispy fried curry leaves add great flavour and texture, but leave them out if you don’t have them!

Beetroot Pancake with Cinnamon Sugar
The beautiful colour of these pancakes is perfect for autumn. Beetroot adds an earthy sweetness that plays a trick on your tastebuds! It’s deliciously interesting and we hope you’ll give it a try.
